Next-gen VVC (H.266) video codec debuts in Intel’s Lunar Lake chips

Intel has added VVC (H.266) hardware decoding to its latest Lunar Lake chips which were announced at IFA 2024. The company used VVC for its live streaming of the Olympics in Paris and this addition really helps the adoption of the codec. Intel also touted the boost in power and particularly power efficiency of the new chips.
