Mediatek Announces New Dimensity 9500 for Flagship Smartphones

SOC developer Mediatek has announced a new version of its Dimensity 9500 chipset for flagship smartphones. The company highlighted video features including 4K 60 ‘cinematic’ mode and 4K120 capture with Dolby Vision support. Although not mentioned in its press release, we confirmed that the chip includes support for 8K60P video capture.

On the playback side, the firm highlighted the Arm Mali-G1 Ultra GPU with doubled ray tracing hardware and a claimed 42% better power efficiency at peak performance. 120fps ray traced playback is said to be supported. AI performance is also boosted and includes 4K image generation.
