Korea Telecom Launches 8K STB
Korea Telecom (KT) has a new STB for IPTV services, the Genie TV Set-Top Box 4, that adds AI processing to its 8K features. It’s believed to be the first in the world to do this. It includes a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) that optimises both image and sound quality based on learned viewing data.
Regular readers may remember that we reported from IBC that Amlogic was in production of an 8K chip and was supplying Kaon, the STB maker, who is in turn a supplier to KT, so we think this is probably the consumer launch of that product.
