Advantech Sees the Network Edge as the Place for Innovation
On May 6, Advantech will host a series of speakers talking about 4K/8K, advanced codecs and 5G distribution. Brian Carr, Director of Strategic Product Development and Planning at Advantech will kick it off with some background on the increasing use of video and codecs developments to meet this demand. Many of the anticipated new use cases will require low latency and extended processing power. As a result, he and Advantech view the network edge as the place where innovation in AI and processing will take place. Their solution? – hardware-accelerated video processing.
Advantech video processing solution use FPGAs, SoC and ASICs from leading chip set providers. 8K contribution encoding is done, for example, leveraging an ASIC from Socionext.
Advantech has recently formed a new Video Solutions Master Division to help focus on these emerging opportunities. In the rest of the presentations, speakers will focus on more efficient cloud-based video transcoding, expanded use of hardware acceleration, and AI-powered computing for industrial vision applications.
Of particular interest is the 8K live encoding/decoding streaming solution from Spin Digital This has already been demonstrated in several live events. “8K live streaming is becoming a reality and is making possible a new generation of highly immersive viewing for remote live events, which will be more and more common in the future,” said Mauricio Alvarez-Mesa, CEO of Spin Digital.
The seminar will be held at two different times.
