Culver Theater to Make the Most of 8K LED
The Culver Theater in Culver City, California, is making the most of its Samsung-supplied Onyx LED displays, including (as far as we know) the only 8K theater LED in the world, by hosting the Asian World Film Festival. The festival ends on 20th November, so you’ll need to be quick.
The Theater is leased and managed by Amazon studios. Unfortunately, because DCI does not have an 8K standard, the 8K display cannot usually be used for Hollywood movies.
(The editor had the privilege of seeing the 8K display when Display Week was in Los Angeles, last. It’s spectacular and, as the Michelin guides say ‘worth a detour’. )
