Comment – First Details About AMD’s Next-Generation Video Engine Revealed
AMD is releasing VCN 4.0, their latest coding engine. Like its predecessor, it supports AVC, HEVC, AV1, and VP9 decoding and encoding. Speculation is that VCN 4.0 will support higher resolutions (8K?), color depths or formats, and/or efficiency improvements. The Tom’s Hardware piece is here.
