Christie Can Transform 8K to IP

Christie announced its latest Mastering Gateway for HD, 4K, and 8K video distribution. At press time we were waiting for clarification from Christie, but it would seem that it can convert uncompressed 8K at 30fps from HDMI to ST.2110 format for transmission over networks. The gateway has extremely low latency and that allows it to be used as a KVM** There are different versions, depending on the I/O needed and includes HDMI, SDI and DisplayPort versions.
The device is the third new one we have heard of in the professional A/V space in recent weeks, with other products from Extron and RGBLink.
** In the past we have talked to Hollywood professionals who point out that fiber-based KVMs are a popular way for creatives to work on content that is hosted remotely, with security controlled by the studios.
